About IqNJM
The Iraqi National Journal of Medicine (IqNJM) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access medical journal published by the Iraqi Association for Medical Research and Studies. The journal aims to support the dissemination of high-quality medical research and scholarship from Iraq, the region, and the wider international community by publishing clinically relevant and scientifically rigorous work across the field of medicine.
This journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and endorses the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Journal History
IqNJM was established in 2019. It was launched as an online journal and has also produced print issues. In 2026, the journal transitioned from Open Journal Systems (OJS) to the Digital Commons platform to strengthen its visibility, accessibility, and publishing infrastructure.
Publishing Schedule
IqNJM publishes two regular issues each year, usually in January and July.
Open Access Statement
IqNJM is an open-access journal. All articles are made freely and immediately available online upon publication, without subscription or embargo. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license, which permits non-commercial use, sharing, and distribution with appropriate attribution.
Article Processing Charge (APC)
IqNJM is a Diamond Open Access journal and does not charge authors any article processing charges. There are no fees for manuscript submission, peer review, biostatistical evaluation, plagiarism screening, proofreading, publication, or printing.

Language
The publication language of the journal is English.
Digital Archiving
The journal’s content is preserved in CLOCKSS to support long-term access and preservation. All published articles are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref, and journal content is also archived in the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals archive.
Publication Timeline
IqNJM is committed to an efficient and fair peer-review process. The average time from submission to acceptance is approximately 3 to 6 months, although timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability, the number of revision rounds, manuscript complexity, and editorial scheduling. Authors are informed of the status of their submissions throughout the review process.
Educational Resources
IqNJM also provides optional educational resources through its YouTube channel. Please note that these video materials are currently available in Arabic.
